This workshop will provide you with skills to identify and productively manage resistance in psychotherapeutic practice. The following topics will be covered:

  • Understanding the nature of resistance
  • Identify potential early warning signs of resistance
  • Identifying & working with client, therapist and therapy contributions to resistance
  • Principles and practical strategies for responding effectively to resistance
  • Practical strategies which may help prevent emergence of resistance

It is anticipated that participants will leave the workshop with strategies they can immediately apply in their psychotherapeutic work.  The strategies provided are integrative in nature, which can be incorporated within empirically-supported treatments for a broad range of client presentations.
